What is the procedure for breast augmentation with lipofilling?

During the consultation, you will first meet with one of our medical specialists to discuss your wishes and expectations together. In consultation with the doctor, the most suitable donor site will be determined in order to extract the body's own fat there, which will then be injected into your breasts after processing.

Lipofilling involves "harvesting" the body's own fat from an area of the body. The areas best suited for this are often the abdomen, hips or buttocks. We call these zones a donor site. Anesthesia and harvesting of the fat

After the donor site is determined, the doctor will locally numb the area with special tumescent fluid. This fluid ensures that more fat cells are retained. A thin cannula (suction tube) is used to aspirate the fatty tissue, just as in a standard liposuction treatment. The fat is then collected in a sterile collection jar, after which it is processed to be injected into the breasts.

After harvesting the fat tissue from the donor site, the tissue will be expertly processed. After processing, the most viable adipose tissue remains.

The treatment of breast augmentation with lipofilling

Before treatment, the breasts and donor area are carefully marked out. After this, the donor area and breasts are locally anesthetized. After the anesthesia takes effect, the fatty tissue is removed from the donor area with liposuction.

The collected fat is then processed and prepared for injection back into the breasts. A thin cannula (2-3 mm thin suction tube) is used to distribute the viable fat tissue evenly throughout the breasts. This ensures that the area is nicely filled and the fat cells have a better chance of survival.

Why one to several treatments?

The injected fat cells need blood flow to survive. Therefore, the fat tissue that is injected must be well distributed throughout the breast tissue. Therefore, only a maximum amount of fat can be injected into the same area per treatment. If too much fat tissue is returned at one time per treatment, a larger portion of the fat cells will not survive the transplant and there is an increased risk of fat cysts. Therefore, lipofilling may consist of multiple treatments for a natural and beautiful result.

Breast augmentation treatment takes about four hours. As a rule, one to three treatments are required to obtain the optimal result. We recommend a period of at least six weeks between each treatment.
