Every year, the ASAPS (American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) publishes statistics on cosmetic procedures performed in the past year. They have been doing this for 20 years. Last year, 30,000 doctors responded to their questionnaires. The results are astonishing. Here are a few figures:
- 30 billion dollars were spent on cosmetic procedures;
- The fastest growing surgical procedure is breast augmentation using the patient's own fat tissue (+41% compared to 2015).
- The most commonly performed surgical procedure is liposuction, for both women and men!
- Most procedures were performed on individuals aged 35-50 years.
- Compared to 20 years ago, the number of liposuction procedures performed has increased by 134%.
